Andrew Laufer Named Chairman of the Board of Directors at RMH-LI
New Hyde Park, NY (March 2011) Andrew Laufer, 47, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors at The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island (RMH-LI).
“I am honored to step into this position at The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island,” said Mr. Laufer. “My predecessor, Stacie Rodriguez, continued the tradition of previous board leaders by leaving us a very sound organization; giving me a strong sense of responsibility to carry on in her footsteps.”
He has been involved with RMH-LI for over 25 years and dedicates his philanthropic efforts to Long Island based charities that help children and their families. He has served as Chairman of the RMH-LI 20th Anniversary Gala Committee and, since 2008, has been a member of the RMH-LI Golf & Pro-Am Tennis Outing Committee.
Mr. Laufer is a CPA and Managing Partner of Landau Arnold Laufer LLP. He has been a member of the firm since 1986 and a partner since 1990. He is presently an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has also been a guest lecturer for the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountant.
Andrew received a Bachelors of Business Administration degree with a specialization in accounting from Hofstra University in 1985.
Hailing from West Islip, Mr. Laufer is married to his high school sweetheart, Eileen, and has two daughters, Jessica and Jillian.
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a ‘home-away-from-home’ for families who are caring for seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals. Located in New Hyde Park on the campus of the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York (formerly Schneider Children’s Hospital), the House accommodates families in a warm and supportive environment. Since opening in 1986, approximately 15,000 families from the United States and more than 80 countries around the world have been served. Many of the families are from Queens, Suffolk and Nassau Counties, as well as the surrounding Metropolitan area.
