STANLEY WALLER SWIM-A-THON TO BENEFIT RMH-LI
New Hyde Park, NY (July 2011) - On Wednesday, July 27th the Deepdale Gardens Community Center Pool in Little Neck will be hosting the 2011 Stanley Waller Swim-A-Thon to benefit The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island (RMH-LI).
The Swim-A-Thon is open to all ages and prizes will be awarded to those who swim the most laps and those who make the largest total contribution. The event will begin promptly at 6:00pm at the Deepdale Community Pool which is located at: 58-25 Little Neck Pkwy in Little Neck, NY. Stanley Waller was a long-time volunteer at the RMH-LI and his family is touched by this great event in Stan’s memory. Mr. Waller was an extraordinary man who was well-liked and was always offering a helping hand to others. One of his many contributions to the House was helping Santa Claus at the RMH-LI Annual Holiday Party. He also worked at Deepdale for ten seasons where his wife Phyllis and children are members.
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. RMH-LI is a ‘home-away-from-home’ for families who are caring for seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals. Located adjacent to the Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park, the House accommodates families in a warm and supportive environment. Since opening in 1986, approximately 16,000 families from the United States and more than 80 countries around the world have been served.
