MATTHEW CAMPO INSTALLED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS 2012 ASSOCIATION OF FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONALS LONG ISLAND
New Hyde Park, NY (February 2012) The Association of Fundraising Professionals Long Island Chapter (www.afpli.org) is pleased to welcome Wantagh resident Matthew Campo as a new first-term member to the Board of Directors. Matthew was formally installed on January 24, 2012 at the Huntington Hilton in Melville.
Matthew Campo has been the Executive Director of The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island since 2010, after previously holding the title of Director of Development and Communications for the organization. Matt is leading one of Long Island’s most beloved not-for-profits into its 25th year as a ‘home-away-from-home’ for families who are caring for seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals. Located in New Hyde Park on the campus of the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York, the House accommodates families in a warm and supportive environment. Matt has focused much of his energy on awareness, expansion and fundraising for the future of the House with the ultimate goal of positively impacting the lives of the children and families who stay there.
Prior to joining the House, Matt held positions at the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington and the Helen Keller National Center in Sands Point. He began his career in 2002 as the Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Long Island University/C.W. Post Campus, where he studied arts management as an undergraduate. Matt currently lives in Wantagh with his wife and three children.
AFPLI is Long Island’s professional affiliation for those in the fundraising field or whose positions require fundraising expertise. Throughout the year, it offers a wide array of programs and services that include monthly educational seminars, scholarships, mentoring, a speaker’s bureau, certification programs, a job bank, and its celebrated Philanthropy Day Conference and Awards Luncheon, which will take place next on Friday, November 16, 2012. AFPLI is a three-time winner of the 10 Star Chapter Award, presented by AFP to chapters that have accomplished significant membership growth and chapter success. AFPLI has also won the Charles R. Stephens Excellence in Diversity Chapter Award, which honors the chapter’s efforts in building diversity. Please visit www.afpli.org for information and news.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents more than 30,000 members in 229 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is the 100th House of over 300 Ronald McDonald House programs worldwide.
